Scrap cars: efficient recycling under professional methods

Time:2025-09-19

Background Introduction

In recent years, the number of cars in China has continued to rise, and the number of scrapped cars has also been increasing year by year. In the eyes of most people, scrapped cars are worthless “waste cars”, but in reality, they are comprehensive renewable resources with multiple values. Its car shell, headlights and other components can be extracted from various core raw materials such as steel and non-ferrous metals. Doing a good job in reusing scrapped cars can not only reduce resource waste and improve utilization efficiency, but also reduce environmental pollution risks, which is of great significance for promoting the development of circular economy. This article will break down its regenerative value in detail, explain the scientific recycling process, and help you fully understand this “mobile resource library”.

The recycling value of scrapped cars

Scrap cars are not just “scrap metal”, but a typical example of “dismantling as a resource”. On the metal side, the main body such as the car shell and frame are mostly made of steel, accounting for 60% -70%, which is an important recycled material in the steel industry; The engine and other components also contain non-ferrous metals such as copper and aluminum, while some components contain precious metals such as silver and palladium. Non metallic materials such as windshields can be recycled as glass raw materials; Bumpers and other plastics can be re injected after processing; Rubber such as tires can be cracked into fuel oil or recycled rubber; The leather seat skin can also be reused. Recycling these raw materials can significantly reduce the exploitation of native resources and lower environmental pressure.

Recycling process

Initial crushing: Strong disassembly of double shaft shredder
The processed car shell is accurately fed into the double shaft shredder by the gripper. This device adopts a multiple crushing mechanism of “shearing+chopping+tearing”, which can quickly crush the metal shell into uniformly sized block materials based on its toughness and strength, usually between 30-50cm. Compared with traditional single shaft crushing, the double shaft shredder has stronger crushing force and higher efficiency, and can effectively avoid material entanglement with the equipment.

Secondary crushing: material refinement and impurity separation
The block shaped material after the initial crushing is transported to another double shaft shredder (or dedicated crusher) for secondary crushing. This step aims to further refine the material into small particles of 5-10cm, while utilizing the screening structure inside the equipment to preliminarily separate light impurities such as plastic and rubber from metal particles, creating conditions for subsequent purification.

Iron removal screening: metal purification and classification

The refined mixed material enters the iron remover (mostly a permanent magnet iron remover) for screening. The iron remover uses a strong magnetic field to adsorb ferromagnetic metals from materials, such as steel; Non ferrous metals such as copper and aluminum enter the next stage of sorting with the remaining materials, such as eddy current sorting. Finally, the separated steel, non-ferrous metals, and non-metallic impurities are collected separately, and the steel and non-ferrous metals are packaged and transported to the smelting plant for processing into new metal raw materials; Non metallic impurities are classified by material and sent to the corresponding factory for recycling treatment.

The significance of recycling

The scrapped car recycling industry has formed a complete industrial chain of “dismantling crushing sorting smelting remanufacturing”, which not only creates a large number of job opportunities, but also provides low-cost recycled raw materials for industries such as automobiles, steel, and plastics, promoting the green transformation of the industry.
