Introduction

Copper foil is the negative electrode collector of lithium battery, which can collect and transfer the electrons inside the battery, and is the basis for the normal operation of the battery. It plays the role of carrying active material and collecting current.

Aluminum foil is the positive electrode foil of lithium-ion battery, i.e. the collector aluminum fil. It is one of the core components of lithium batteries, and mainly collects the current generated by the active substance of the battery in order to form a larger current for external output. Aluminum foil needs to be in full contact with the active substance.

Recycling Value

Copper foil, as an important component of lithium batteries, is small in size but huge in use. Since copper is relatively expensive compared to other metals, recycling copper foil can be quite profitable.

According to the market situation, the recycling offer of battery aluminum foil offcuts is roughly RMB 2,000-8,000/ton, showing its high economic value!

Recycling process

Pre-treatment of used batteries:
Discharge: First, the used lithium battery is fully discharged to ensure that the battery is in a safe state.
Dismantling: Dismantle the waste battery packs and collect the battery monomer for subsequent processing.
Crushing and sorting:
Crushing: Use crusher and other equipment to crush the battery monomer to get the crushed material of electric core.
Sorting: The crushed product is screened and graded by vibrating screen, usually divided into three particle levels, and the middle particle level is taken for subsequent processing.
Remove impurities:
The intermediate granularity mixture is sorted by high-pressure electrostatic separation to remove impurities such as diaphragm and plastic, and get the mixture of copper foil and aluminum foil.
Separation of copper and aluminum foils:
Crushing to target size: Put the copper foil-aluminum foil mixture into horizontal crusher and crush it to target size.
Sorting: Sorting is carried out by vibrating fluidized bed, light product (aluminum foil) is discharged through the upper part, and heavy product (copper foil) is discharged through the scraper, so as to realize the separation of copper foil and aluminum foil.
Grinding and sorting (optimized process)
Grinding: The copper foil and aluminum foil are fed into the grinder for grinding to make them into fine particles.
Specific gravity sorting: The copper and aluminum particles after grinding are fed into the specific gravity sorting machine for sorting, which further separates them according to the difference in specific gravity between copper and aluminum.
Airflow Stripping & Vibratory Screening (Innovative Process)
Airflow stripping: The crushed and pyrolyzed materials are put into the airflow stripping machine to strip the polar powder by friction dispersing, and then separate the polar powder from the copper and aluminum foils by airflow classification.
Vibrating screen: The outlet of the airflow stripper is connected to a vibrating screen to screen out the ball-shaped shells, and the remaining copper-aluminum foils go into the grinder for further grinding.
