Acrylic sheet, also known as Plexiglas or PMMA sheet, is a polymer compound made by polymerizing methyl methacrylate (MMA). Due to its wide application and high production volume, the recycling of acrylic sheet is particularly important. Recycling acrylic sheet not only reduces environmental pollution, but also saves resources and reduces production costs.
Recycling process
Classification: First, the recycled acrylic sheets are classified according to variety, color, thickness, etc.. This helps to better match the equipment and process for subsequent processing and improve the recycling efficiency.
Crushing: The classified acrylic sheets are fed into the crusher for crushing to break them into smaller pieces or particles. The crusher usually adopts high-speed rotating blade or hammer head to crush the acrylic sheet strongly.
Screening: The crushed acrylic fragments or particles are screened to remove the impurities and unqualified particles. The sieving process can be carried out as many times as necessary to ensure the quality of the recycled acrylic particles.
Grinding: The sieved acrylic particles are fed into the grinding machine for grinding process to make it reach a certain particle size requirement. The mill usually adopts ball milling, vibration milling and other processes to grind the acrylic particles into finer particles.
Recycling: The milled acrylic particles can be used directly for the production of new acrylic products, such as acrylic panels, acrylic tubes and so on. These recycled products have similar properties and qualities to virgin products and can be used for a variety of applications.
Recycling value
Acrylic board recycling delivers significant value across multiple dimensions:
Resource Conservation: Recycling reduces consumption of virgin raw materials and decreases demand for petroleum-based feedstocks, promoting a sustainable materials cycle.
Environmental Protection: Proper recycling minimizes waste pollution, prevents toxic substance release, and lowers carbon emissions associated with virgin PMMA production.
Economic Benefits: Recycled acrylic materials offer a cost advantage over virgin resin, helping enterprises reduce production expenses while maintaining access to high-end application markets.
Technical Excellence: Mature physical and chemical recycling technologies enable high-purity recovery, achieving closed-loop utilization of waste materials with quality comparable to virgin products.
Circular Economy: Combining policy support with market mechanisms, acrylic recycling drives the development of a circular economy, delivering simultaneous improvements in environmental performance and economic returns.
Recycling Advantages
This is an efficient fully automatic PMMA mechanical recycling system that converts waste acrylic sheets into high-purity recycled particles through core processes such as crushing, friction cleaning, and airflow sorting. Its modular design integrates intelligent control system, making it easy to operate and compact in layout. The multi-level precision separation system built into the equipment can effectively remove impurities such as coatings and adhesives, ensuring that the purity of the produced particles can be directly used for injection molding or extrusion molding, completely replacing the production of new materials for products such as sheets and profiles. While maintaining excellent optical and mechanical performance, it achieves closed-loop circulation of resources and sustainable development.
